Mathematica Minute Video and Podcast Highlight Research to Inform Disability Policy

Employment Approaches, Care Coordination, and Other Critical Policy Issues Covered
Feb 27, 2017

A new Mathematica Minute video and podcast reveal how Mathematica’s Center for Studying Disability Policy (CSDP) is contributing to the evidence on today’s most critical issues in disability policy. Researchers at CSDP focus on topics that affect people with disabilities. These include:

  • Employment and income support
  • Health care
  • Transition to adulthood
  • Behavioral health
  • Education

In the video, CSDP leaders and researchers highlight their work in the area of employment and income support for people with disabilities. These programs and policies, many of which have their roots in the mid-20th century, are of particular interest to CSDP. The success of these programs and policies is influenced by a complex set of issues that include cash supports, health care, accommodation, education, and parenting, among others.

In the podcast, researchers discuss the current policy climate for coordinating care and providing services and supports in the community for frail older adults and people with complex conditions.

The CSDP, a leading force in disability policy research, provides the nation’s leaders with the information they need to develop disability policies and programs that work in today’s world and help people lead fulfilling, independent, and productive lives in spite of significant impairments and chronic illness. The CSDP analyzes and evaluates interventions designed to empower people with disabilities, improve their health and employment outcomes, and promote efficient use of the nation’s resources. It also brings the latest evidence to policymakers and stakeholders through congressional briefings and policy forums.
